POLICY

SCHOLARSHIP

 

PURPOSE:  To assist chapter members with registration in attending educational offerings.

DEFINITION:       
                Disbursement of chapter monies for scholarships, educational workshops and Congress.
               

RESPONSIBILITIES:
                               Academic Scholarship criteria:
                                               
1.        Is offered to a RN
                                                2.        The applicant must be an AORN dues paying member.
                                                3.        The applicant must be working on a BSN, MSN, or DScN.
                                                4.        The applicant will complete an application form which is submitted to the Secretary, which will then be reviewed by the Board of Directors.
                                                5.        The applicant must maintain a 3.0 grade average on nursing courses.  This grade report is submitted with the application form.
                                                6.        A copy of the course registration form is submitted with the application form.
                                                7.        The Board decision with be communicated to the applicant.
                                                8.        A maximum of $250.00 will be given per scholarship.
                                                9.        A maximum of $1000.00 per fiscal year may be given for scholarships. 

                                Workshop/Seminar/Congress Scholarship criteria:
                                            1.        The member must attend at least 7 meetings out of a 12 month period.  A 12 month period is counting back from the time of your request (a floating year.)
                                            2.        Application should be made in writing at least 2 months prior to receipt of money for attending a workshop/seminar to the Secretary.  This request will
                                                    be reviewed by the Board of Directors.
                                            3.        A copy of the CEU certificate certificate must be submitted to the Board within two weeks post workshop.
                                            4.        If the educational offering was not attended, the recipient is expected to refund the money to the chapter.
                                            5.        The Board decision will be communicated to the applicant.
                                            6.        Money allocated may be up to $1000.00 for a fiscal year.
                                            7.        A maximum of $50.00 will be allocated for each workshop/seminar.
                                            8.    A maximum of $500.00 will be allocated per individual for Congress.
                                            9.    A maximum of $250.00 will be allocated per individual for related conferences, e.g., multi-specialty, lobby day in Washington, course towards
                                                    CNOR, RNFA certification, clinical specialist course.
