Chapter President’s Message

I participated in the Chapter President’s Conference Call on 2/12/08 and I want to inform you of some of the issues that will be discussed at Congress.  Please review your January and February AORN Journals.  We will discuss the slate of candidates, proposed bylaws changes, and the proposed position statements at the next Chapter meeting.  You need to be prepared to give instructions to your Delegates on how to vote at Congress.  See you at the Chapter meeting.       Dody

AORN Journal, February, 2008

  • Pg 283-285 – Mary Jo Steiert gives additional information re: the Proposed Bylaws Amendment Related to the Nominating Committee.  On the conference call, Mary Jo told us:

o       According to the feedback they have received, the sentiment in general is in favor of the concept but not in the proposed numbers.

o       The House will vote on each section separately, then, vote for the changes in total.

o       The trend of other nursing organizations has gone to this model to have past leaders elect new leaders.

o       The board feels strongly that it is difficult to serve if you have never served in some leadership capacity.
