PAY IT FORWARD

Renee Khalar RN CNOR

For the past two years the Austin Area AORN has been committed to increasing our efforts of community service.  To meet that commitment the membership either together or individually has given time, talent and treasures to charities such as Hands of Luke humanitarian trips, Ronald McDonald House pop top collection and meal preparation, Angel Tree gifts at Christmas, Eels on Wheels volunteers, Operation Call Home calling cards, and Texas State Hospital donations.

The Board is offering the membership an opportunity to make this commitment more formalized.  We have identified an organization for each month where we can concentrate our efforts.  Some times we will be asking for monetary donations, other times we will ask you to clean out drawers and closets for items you no longer need but others will feel like they are gifts from heaven.  There may be a month or two we ask for your talents and time.  The newsletter will describe the details of each month's contributions.

Each month we will need a champion to organize the donation process. Please e-mail Dody at volcik@embarqmail.com or dvolcik@seton.org if you would like use your talents as champion for one of the service projects.

Participation will be totally voluntary but we hope that each of you find this as an occasion to “Pay It Forward” for the gifts we have.  This is the time of year where we get very busy preparing for the Holidays, but we also realize that we have so many things that we are thankful for and that we are blessed.

Please consider joining the members off the Austin Area AORN in sharing with these worth while organizations.  Please give them your time, talent and/ or treasures.
