Perioperative Nurses Day at the Capitol

It was an absolute pleasure to participate in Perioperative Nurses Day at the Capitol coordinated by TCORN. I was fortunate enough to spend the day working alongside AORN Treasurer, Nakeisha M. Archer, DNP, MBA, RN, NE-BC, CNOR, CSSM, (third from the left) speaking with legislative staff about the dangers of surgical smoke and the importance of supporting Senate Bill 707.

Madam Treasurer is currently running for AORN President Elect!

Joanne Oliver-Coleman, BSN, RN, CNOR-E (third from right) coordinated and scheduled meeting with Senators, Representatives, and their teams.

There were demonstrations on smoke evacuation that were available to all legislative staff members.

It was a very productive day and I look forward to engaging in future legislative efforts impacting patient and staff safety.

P.S. Our banner arrived!
